Evelyn Susanne

Our little Evie was born on Wednesday, February 23 at 9:19 p.m. She was 6 pounds 5 ounces and 19.5 inches long. Here's a short synopsis of the day she was born. I started having regular contractions at about 3 am. My dad came up at about 10 to watch Nina for the day. Tyson and I headed into the hospital at about 11. I was monitored for a bit and they decided to keep me around. At about 2 I was given some Pitocin to help speed up the process.... When 7 rolled around and the nurses changed shift, my new nurse said my doctor was coming to the hospital around 9 for something else, so we may as well have the baby then. Well, sure enough, Evie was born a little after 9 making it convenient for everyone. It was an easy labor, compared to Nina's I guess (is any labor easy?) and a great recovery too.

A little about Evie: She is a mild-tempered, sweet baby. She hardly ever cries, eats well, and sleeps well. She just seems to fit into our family perfectly.

Tyson just loves his little girls. He was the one who picked out Evie's name. He has been a great help to me around the house and with his buddy, Nina.

Nina took a couple of days to warm up to the idea that Evie was sticking around for the long haul. She has been a great big sister though and is really sweet and gentle to Evie.

Here she is after her first bath. She has awesome light brown hair that I am almost positive she will lose shortly. :(

A day of love...

We had Nina's two little best friends over for lunch on Valentine's Day. They had heart shaped sandwiches, jell-o, and ice, pink yogurt and juice and sugar cookies. These cute little girls hardly ate a thing, but had fun playing and just being with each other.
The girls made foam butterflies and here's the cute creation Nina came up with. Brilliant creativity!
They decorated their sugar cookies with sprinkles. I love the location of the sprinkle and the expression on her face.
For dessert I tried my hand at chocolate dipped strawberries. They didn't turn out half bad!
I just love my Valentines: Tyson and Nina. Tyson is such a great husband. He works so hard for our family, with work and school. He sacrifices a lot of fun things he used to do in order to support us and I appreciate him so much. Definitely, the perfect person for me to marry. Nina is my little ray of sunshine. She is sweet as sugar, but has some good spice to her as well. She is always asking me if I feel okay and will rub my back and do other sweet things for me. She often says, "I love you Mommy", which makes me happier than she could ever imagine. She's funny, kind, and cute and has everything going for her!

Santa Barbara

Tyson and I took advantage of having Bridget around for a month and got her to babysit Nina so we could have a quick getaway to Santa Barbara. With the upcoming baby and school semester we knew it would be our last chance in a long time. We stayed in SB for 2 nights and couldn't have had a better time. The weather was beautiful and it was nice and quiet without all of the usual tourists.

Seriously one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

I was afraid of riding a bike by myself and being almost 9 months pregnant, so we rented this little beauty and cruised around for a bit.

What a horrible picture, but I guess it's the reality of my 34 weeks pregnant look.

SISTER WOOD

Here is my cute sister Bridget with her friends Kelly and Laura on the weekend of her mission farewell. She was called to serve in the Salt Lake City Temple Square Mission. We are so proud of her decision to serve a mission. She will be an amazing missionary. We will miss her, but know that she is where she is supposed to be and will touch the lives of many people. I can't believe that it was 9 years ago that I was in the MTC leaving for my mission.

My side of the family is becoming more and more fun as more kids are being added to it. (hint, hint K & J...no pressure) There is just something about having kids around that brings energy and life and noise, of course. Nina absolutely LOVED spending time with her cousins and can't wait until she sees them again. They had fun doing everything together for a week.

Christmas Eve 2010

Tyson was lucky enough to get Christmas Eve off this year, so we headed down to Castaic to enjoy the holidays. It was awesome because my WHOLE family was there, which is an amazing feat. We spent Christmas Eve at my Aunt Karen's house (a long-standing tradition in our family).

Nina was in heaven having her cousins around to play with. She absolutely loves her cousin Tricia and still talks about her every day. We need to devise a plan to get them to move closer. Iowa is just too far away!

The pregnant ladies: Betsy (boy due in May), Leslie (? due in April) and me (girl due in March).

It was so nice to have Mayer, Billy and Tom back from Columbia early so we could spend Christmas with them too. Little Billy is an adorable angel child!
