First Haircut

Nina needed a haircut for a while, but for some reason I was scared to do it. Maybe I was partly sad to do it (growing up way too fast) and I was afraid I would ruin her hair. Well, since Brandon and Lindsey's wedding was around the corner we decided to finally class her up a bit and get rid of the mullet.

Here she is post-haircut. I accidentally uploaded my photos in the wrong order and don't know an easy way to switch them...oops. It ended up looking pretty cute and I don't think I botched it up too badly.

Here she is pre-haircut. Her hair is quite curly so it has been easy to camoflauge the mullet, but it was getting pretty long in back and not so long on top. Uncle Kevin would be proud.

Fun in the Sun

Nina and I have been thoroughly enjoying the beautiful spring weather. We try to spend as much time outdoors without getting burnt. (because we know the brutal summer lies just around the corner.) Nina enjoys splashing around in her friend Atley's pool.

These two girls often get mistaken for twins. Hmmm...I wonder why?
We took a trip to the zoo in Bakersfield and Nina LOVED seeing all of the animals.

Angels game, world record, and snuggies!

At the beginning of April (I know I'm a bit behind) we had the opportunity to head down to an Angels' baseball game on opening week with Larry and Beth! The atmosphere and energy made it worth our overpriced tickets. Beth...are you disappointed with the Pepsi or what? That place needs to get some Diet Coke!When we entered the stadium everyone got free Angels' snuggies. My dad was really excited because he has wanted one for quite some time. So the reason they passed them out was to break a World Record for: "Largest Gathering of People Wearing Fleece Blankets". I am so proud to have been a part of a world record!

Here is the whole crowd sporting their snuggies. I must admit, it was quite a sight seeing grown, drunk men in their snuggies. Oh, good times, good times!

Easter

We had a great Easter this year. It was so fun that Nina was old enough to understand some of the elements of Easter. We were lucky enough to have family come up to celebrate with us. Tom and Mayer came up to spend the weekend with us and Grandpa Larry and Grandma Beth came up on Easter Sunday. Grandma and Grandpa made sure to bring up a new Build-a-Bear for Nina. Here she is loving her new bunny.
This is funny (or not so funny) for those of you in the car ride from Los Osos to Castaic after Grandpa Lemmon's funeral. These "mini-shorts" kept us entertained the entire trip. Nina has taken a liking to them and was trying them on for size.
Once Nina figured out the whole Easter egg concept she had a good time looking for them.
She could count on Grandpa to open up the eggs and get the candy out.
Nina and I braved coloring eggs this year. She actually enjoyed it somewhat and looked like a little dyed egg herself. In this picture she is reaching on in to get her egg out.

A good ol' weekend with friends

Last weekend our friends, Mike and Ashley Fisher, came for a visit after their trip to Arizona. We had such a good time with them and feel so lucky to have such great friends. Some of the things we did:

• went to Six Flags Magic Mountain (we all felt like we were getting older because our tolerance for all those rides was not as good as it used to be)
• golfing (Tyson and Mike)
• bowling (this seems to be a common trend for us)
• good food and good times

Park bench...

I have come to realize that Nina and I are outdoor people, so we spend A LOT of time at the park. Sometimes we go 2 or 3 times a day. Here are some pictures of park days we have had over the last month or so.

We went to this park to take some pictures with the beautiful pear tree blossoms.

These pictures are from the park in our neighborhood (the most frequented park, by far). Nina loves getting dirty in the sand.

This is at Hart park; a huge park with ponds, ducks, rivers, waterfalls, etc.... Nina and her pal, Sadie had fun on the swings. The swings are actually Nina's favorite. Sometimes all she does is swing at the park the whole time.

Over the river and through the woods...

We took a short weekend trip to Los Osos to visit my Grandma Lemmon. It was the most beautiful, picturesque drive out there.

Off the side of the road was a big herd of sheep. I love the green grass and the hills in the background.

We passed by several almond tree farms. I am always amazed at how perfectly straight all the rows of crops are.

All of the wildflowers were in bloom and they were absolutely gorgeous. Here is a bright burst of orange poppies.

Ooo...these yellow ones are nice too.

About 5 minutes before we got to Grandma's house Nina became nauseated and threw up all over. Oh, what a pain to clean up barf on a car seat! She felt fine once we got there and struck up a friendship with a "friendly" neighborhood cat. At least, until the cat bit her. Ouch!

We went downtown to San Luis Obispo. Close to the mission there is a creek that Nina could have spent days in.

The water was way too cold for my liking, but Nina didn't seem to mind at all.

Later on that day we headed out to Morro Bay. I think this picture captures the essence of the bay. I love the fog and how you can barely see the rock through it.

With everything to see and do, Nina found one of her true loves: stairs.

A huge tradition: feeding the sea lions and going to the aquarium.

One particular sea lion had a very loud bark, which Nina did NOT enjoy!

We had such a great time and look forward to visiting Grandma again soon!
