The Cutest Berry in the Bunch

Nina was a little strawberry this year. She actually loved wearing the stem hat, which I was worried about, and laughed at herself in the mirror when she saw it.

I don't even know what to say. Isn't she darling?
The Lundy's sent Nina these cute pants for her birthday.

Hart Park

There's a cute park in town called Hart Park that we checked out a few weeks ago. It's a huge park that has a lot to see and do. Nina seemed to like feeding the ducks and geese the best. The geese made me a little nervous, since they were very "friendly" and bigger than Nina.
Tyson was helping Nina get a closer look.
Nina and me at the water's edge.
Here's Nina gazing at the ducks. There were peacocks, play areas, and a river at the park and it turned out to be a great Sunday evening.

The Festivities

Aah, the big girl car seat. I don't know why I was so excited to have her switch cart seats. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that she no longer screams the whole time we are in the car. From the look on her face, she's pretty content with this seat as well.
Here's Nina on her actual birthday enjoying one of her favorite lunches: chicken nuggets from Wendy's. It's one of my favorites too!
Tyson made Nina a Funfetti cake for her actual birthday. We couldn't find any candles around the house so there is a match stuck in. She didn't seem to mind.
Devouring the cake
Feeding cake to dad..mmm.
When Tyson's parents came out for Nina's birthday party we ate at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants, Que Pasa. Nina really loved the black beans.

Nina's birthday party was a low-key affair, but was a lot of fun. We had a lunch with both grandparents and Uncle Tom. Nina opened presents and ate her cake. The rest of the adults had a great time watching football the rest of the day.
You can tell by her eyes how tired she was but being the crazy people we are we forced her to "enjoy" her cake. She picked at it for a bit, then lost it and had to go down for a nap. Maybe she was a bit overstimulated.

Pumpkin cupcakes for everyone else.
Nina got the plane from me and Tyson and Snugglepup from Grandma and Grandpa Wood. She puts them both to good use by pushing Snugglepup around the house. Very cute!

Officially 1!

Nina Louise
October 10, 2008
I can't believe how fast this year has flown by. Nina is by far the greatest blessing we have had in our married life together. We love her sweet and happy personality. She has a great sense of humor and an innate tenderness. She has taught us so much and we are so grateful for her. We look forward to another great year with you Nina Lou!

Kern County Fair

A couple of weeks ago we went to the Kern County Fair in Bakersfield. Tyson's work provided tickets and a BBQ dinner at the fair. There were a lot of typical "fair" things to see and do. It brought back memories of being a carny for me. Nina loved all of the animals especially the little ones, like the chicks. I guess she can relate to them or something.
Here's our little cowgirl all saddled up. The Fieldsted side of the family sure would be proud!
She was a little apprehensive of the cows. I must admit, so was I!
This is at the company BBQ. Nina loved the tri tip and so did we.
This place had a kangaroo, turtles, scorpions and other exotic animals. She liked the bird in the background.

Welcome to the neighborhood DEL TACO!

So, my family and I have this slight obsession with Del Taco. I really can't seem to get enough of it. There weren't any Del Tacos in Iowa, so it was a rough 3 years without it. I'm excited to say that they are constructing one right around the corner from our house! I may have to become a regular there. All I can say is, Del Taco, here I come!
I love this expression of Tricia's at Del Taco.
The fam enjoying a delicious breakfast at DT.
Ooh, I miss these kids! Come back to Bakersfield!

Granny's 80th Birthday Party

For my Grandma Wood's 80th birthday she decided to treat everyone to a weekend at the beach in Ventura. We went over Labor Day weekend. We each got our own hotel room right on the beach. The weather couldn't have been more perfect and it was a lot of fun to have the majority of the Wood family there.
Here's Grandma with Nina. I love how excited Grandma is about all of the great grandkids.
Kevin and Jennalyn soaking up some rays in their sweet shirts.
Nina is really grumpy in this picture because we didn't bring down her swimsuit when we went to see people at the pool. She really wanted to swim too and let us know it!

Here Daphne and Betsy are enjoying a dip in the hotel's pool. The water was as warm as a bathtub.
This is on the pier where we ate dinner at Eric Ericson's. Yum!
Betsy and Daphne at the dinner party we had for Grandma. We each sent in comments about what we loved about Granny, which were read aloud. Then we made her a memory box where we recored a favorite memory with Granny.
Here's Grandma Beth and Tricia.
